Campus Expansion

Dear Temple Beth Am and Pressman Academy Family,

As I watch the "Do You See What They See" video please allow me to share with you how I feel.  I feel pride, I feel confident and I feel excitement!  I feel pride in what Temple Beth Am has accomplished over its 80 year history, as we continue to honor the legacy of those who have created this wonderful synagogue, school and community for us.  I feel confident that the current leadership, both professional and lay, will ensure that Temple Beth Am and Pressman Academy continues to be a pillar of the Los Angeles Jewish Community.  I feel excitement about what the future holds for our children and our community as we expand, renovate and enhance our campus.

Earlier this week, the Board of Trustees of Temple Beth Am voted unanimously in favor of pursuing the construction of a primarily Middle School focused facility in lieu of an Early Childhood Center on the Corning portion of our campus and reaffirmed our commitment to remodeling our sanctuary, creating a space for enhanced spiritual connectivity, experience and accessibility.  I am proud of the seriousness, careful evaluation and envisioning the Board of Trustees took into consideration while making this important decision. I want to thank not only the Board, but those individuals who serve on the Building Committee and sub-committees.  These volunteers spent countless hours reviewing all the information to allow the Board to make an informed decision. They will continue their excellent work until the project is fully completed.

The vision of Embracing the Sacred, Enriching the Future Project remains the same: a lifetime of Jewish commitment is founded on a creative, broad-based Jewish education.  This campus expansion plan meets both those needs.

In making their decision, the Board evaluated the following focus areas:

●  The Vision of the Current Leadership
●  STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math): Educational Soundness
●  Student Attraction vs. Student Retention
●  Financial Feasibility, Benefits and Mindfulness in the new decision
●  The Benefits of a Multi-use Facility for each Audience
●  Investing Long-term in TBA/JPA

Please reference the Frequently Asked Questions link (FAQs) below or visit www.tbala.org/futurefaqs for further information regarding how the board came to its thoughtful decision. We are moving forward with a plan that will serve our community well.  I hope that you will join in my pride, confidence and excitement for the future of Temple Beth Am and Pressman Academy.

B'Shalom,

Mike Cohn,
President
